MissionH24 and Symbio Extend Partnership for Even More Performing Zero Emission Hydrogen Mobility.
MissionH24 and Symbio, long-standing partners in the deployment of zero-emission hydrogen mobility that performs even under the demanding conditions of motor racing, are stepping up their collaboration to shape the future of carbon-free mobility. The all-new H24EVO will feature a fuel cell, now complemented by a more comprehensive powertrain system, developed by Symbio.
In just one month’s time, the spotlight will shine on the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2024, a legendary race which has just celebrated its centenary, and which is resolutely looking to the future with a new Hydrogen category planned for 2027.
Strengthened by their shared determination to excel in this high-level competition, a unique laboratory in extreme, real-life conditions, MissionH24 and Symbio are extending and intensifying their pioneering partnership for the next three years (2024-2026). Since 2018, the MissionH24 program, the fruit of collaboration between the ACO and H24Project, has been playing an active role in this development by deploying hydrogen-powered electric prototypes. As a leading technical partner, Symbio, a front-runner in fuel cell technology, is fully embracing this challenge, motivated by a deep conviction in favor of zero-emission racing.
In recent years, many milestones have been reached, symbolized by the H24’s participation in the Michelin Le Mans Cup, challenging machines with conventional combustion engines. Each event was marked by a passage under the chequered flag.
With the static presentation of the all-new H24EVO on June 12, 2024 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the Hydrogen Village, another era is dawning. This daring, sleek-looking prototype embodies the ambition of pure performance, ready to surpass itself, and to surpass! The brand-new hydrogen fuel cell developed by Symbio, which will power the H24EVO, uses cutting-edge multi-stack technology. Offering a maximum net power of 300 kW, it represents a gain in power density of over 50% compared with previous technologies, while guaranteeing exceptional efficiency.
For MissionH24 and Symbio, this collaboration goes far beyond competition. Together, they aspire to build a revolutionary hydrogen-powered electric racing vehicle, while proving the potential of hydrogen in decarbonizing mobility.
Pierre Fillon, President of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest and Co-President of MissionH24, said:
Participating in the energy transition and developing a zero-emission competition are crucial, exciting and immense challenges.
“To meet them, it’s essential to be able to count on expert, committed partners like Symbio. The last few years have been seminal, and the years to come, with Symbio, will realize the potential of hydrogen electric competition with MissionH24.”
Philippe Rosier, CEO of Symbio, said:
After already 6 years of collaboration, we are delighted to naturally extend our partnership with MissionH24 and the ACO for 3 new years for even greater performance.
“Symbio has been the fuel cell partner of the MissionH24 adventure since its inception in 2018. This renewed partnership bears witness to our shared commitment to developing ultra-high-performance zero-emission hydrogen mobility. Motor racing is a wonderful laboratory in extreme, real-life conditions. It enables us to push the performance of our technology ever further, both on the track and on the road, to accelerate the deployment of high-performance, safe and competitive hydrogen mobility.”
Jean-Michel Bouresche, Chairman of H24 Project and co-chairman of MissionH24, said:
I’m delighted to continue our long-term collaboration with Symbio. For MissionH24, this partnership with one of the major players in the fuel cell industry is an opportunity to benefit from Symbio’s expertise.
“Its involvement enables it to demonstrate the performance of its products through the formidable test bed that is motor racing. Together, with the H24EVO, designed for pure performance, we are building the future of the hydrogen electric category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.”
