Netherlands – hydrogen consortium DreamH2aul develops trucks and filling station.

[Transport & Logistiek] The Dutch hydrogen project DreamH2aul has officially started. The project involves the development and testing of two 44-tonne hydrogen-electric trucks and the addition of a hydrogen filling point to a filling station at the A1 Business Park Deventer. The hydrogen supplied to this filling station will only be green. The filling point and the trucks will be operational in mid-2023.

Within the project, TotalEnergies Marketing Nederland is responsible for adding a hydrogen filling point to the filling station. Zepp.solutions takes on the development of the trucks. Transport companies Vos Transport Group and BCTN Group each intend to use a hydrogen tractor in their daily operations. TNO will compare the performance of the trucks with alternatives.

The parties hope to use the project to promote the roll-out of sustainable road transport.

Division of tasks within DreamH2aul

Zepp.solutions is responsible for the development of the two hydrogen-electric trucks. According to the consortium, these will be the world’s first hydrogen-powered emission-free tractors for semi-trailers that are allowed to tow any trailer within the current European regulations. The trucks will soon have a range of more than 600 kilometers.

To achieve this range while also offering operator comfort and an attractive TCO, zepp develops fuel cell systems with high efficiency and extremely high power density.

The hydrogen power line will be built into two N3 tractors, which will be used by Vos Transport Group and BCTN Group for urban distribution, regional container transport and (international) long-distance transport. Both companies have been active in the European Lean & Green CO for years.2-reduction program and are on their way to achieving the fourth Lean & Green Star within Europe.

Green refueling in Deventer

The two trucks will be the first hydrogen-powered trucks at this TotalEnergies filling station, to which hydrogen will be added by TotalEnergies Marketing Netherlandsfor this project. Only green hydrogen is supplied to this filling station. LNG is also available at this location.

TotalEnergies in the Netherlands is working on the development of a network of filling stations with clean fuels such as green gas, hydrogen, LNG and electricity. The multi-fuel filling station in Deventer contributes to TotalEnergies’ mission in the Netherlands to achieve sustainability.

Support by DKTI
