his collaboration aims to establish a sustainable maritime sector in Tanzania by focusing on green hydrogen production, bunkering infrastructure, and vessel development, with an emphasis on local training programs to build expertise. By harnessing Tanzania’s renewable energy potential and its strategic maritime location, the partnership aims to contribute to the global decarbonization of the shipping industry.
In addition to working with TEEMO, ZESTAs has partnered with a German organization with expertise in hydrogen project development to ensure successful project implementation in Tanzania. This partnership will focus on aligned communication and adherence to a strict timeline.
Madadh MacLaine, Secretary-General of ZESTAs, emphasized the importance of green hydrogen as the only truly zero-emission and pollution-free fuel for shipping, stating that this initiative would not only support environmental goals but also create economic opportunities in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
