New Times wants to transform heat engines into hydrogen engines.

The Alesian company New Times, which specializes in computer programs for manufacturing quality control, production management, inventory and traceability, is developing a technological retrofit solution, enabling a heat engine to be transformed into a 100% zero-emission hydrogen engine.

Didier Lopez, leader and founder of New Times.

It’s a two-stroke hydrogen combustion engine.

“We have French, European and international patents and have carried out a first bench of conclusive tests”.

“Now we have to move on to the rolling vehicle. We will start with a 2-CV, then we will test the solution on a small sports car, a boat and even on a small truck”, he continues.

The first prototype should be ready for the summer and that of the car sports at the end of the year. The Occitanie region has just granted the company, as part of an innovation contract, a subsidy of 141,291 euros.

void scrapping thermal vehicles

“We have to stop trying to put all internal combustion engine vehicles in the ‘trash’. There are more than a billion thermal vehicles on earth. Imagine if you had to throw them all away and build new ones! “, notes Didier Lopez. “The least polluting car is the one that we don’t produce. We offer a solution to drive cleanly without changing cars,” he insists.

The idea is not to compete with electric cars or fuel cell cars. “Our technology makes it possible to modify only part of the engine of vehicles, without having to change it completely”, he specifies. In order to distribute and market the technology in the medium term, the company has created a subsidiary, THOM (Thermal Hydrogen Oxygen Mobility).

“We are in the process of constructing a building in Alès in order to install the workshop for the transformation of vehicles there”.

Once the prototypes have been produced, the company plans to raise funds in 2023, ” around three million euros”, to support marketing. “We are targeting the market of manufacturers, but also integrators, partners, chains of garages, etc.”, indicates the business manager, an engineer by training.

Composed of 15 employees, New Times and its subsidiaries achieve a turnover in 2021 of around one million euros.
