Nikola has recently opened the first commercial hydrogen refueling station in Ontario, Canada. The station was opened together with IT industries, the company’s first dealer partner in the country.
Founded in 2005, HTEC covers the entire clean hydrogen value chain, from production to distribution, dispensing, and fleet transition.
In mid-June, the company said it plans to deploy 100 hydrogen-powered Fuel Cell Electric Trucks on British Columbia roads.
HTEC wrote on LinkedIn:
The Nikola Corporation TRE FCEV passed HTEC’s vehicle acceptance test with flying colours and is now officially part of HTEC’s BCH2 Pilot Trucks fleet.

In May, the Canadian Infrastructure Bank (CIB) unveiled that will support HTEC’s plans to build out hydrogen refuelling stations and by-product hydrogen liquefaction with a CA $337m ($245 million) loan.
Around 20 trucks from Nikola were recently seen at the headquarters of J.B. Hunt, one of the largest supply chain solution providers in North America.
The company is rumoured to be buying additional Nikola trucks following the order of 13 units announced one year ago.
In March, the company inaugurated its first HYLA high-pressure refueling station in Southern California. The Nikola followed up with the opening of a second station in the region two months later.
In July, as the company continues expanding its infrastructure across U.S. and Canada, Nikola’s station located in California achieved a record day by refuelling 28 trucks and dispensing over 850 kg of hydrogen.
The Arizona-based company sold 72 units in the second quarter, bringing its total sales for the first half of the year to 112 units.
