Polenergia withdraws from hydrogen supplies to Polish city buses
Polish power utility Polenergia SA (WSE:PEP) said that the management board of its unit Polenergia H2Hub Nowa Sarzyna has chosen not to sign a contract with the city of Rzeszow following a tender for hydrogen supply to municipal transport.
To explain this decision, Polenergia mentioned the current risk assessment of the project related to identified legal uncertainties and said that there are concerns about the timely receipt of hydrogen deliveries.
At the same time, Polenergia noted that it is reviewing strategic options and will inform the public about the results in separate reports. In February 2024 the company said that it may withdraw from the further implementation of hydrogen projects or change the method or scope of their execution.
In October, the company won a 15-year contract for delivering hydrogen for 20 buses of southeastern Rzeszow. The selection of the supplier came while Polenergia was completing works on a 5-MW electrolyser.
