President of Colombia visits port of Rotterdam to investigate the setting up of an import chain for hydrogen from Colombia to Rotterdam.
Iván Duque Márquez, president of Colombia and part of his cabinet, visited the port of Rotterdam. During a cruise through the port of Rotterdam, mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb and CEO Allard Castelein were present.
Topics discussed included port development, foreign trade, logistics, national police and environmental issues. Earlier this year, the Port of Rotterdam Authority concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Mines and Energy from Colombia to investigate the establishment of a hydrogen import chain from Colombia to Rotterdam.
In the near future, the port of Rotterdam sees an important role for the import of green hydrogen to Europe from countries such as Colombia, where green hydrogen can be made with solar and wind energy at relatively low costs. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

The visit of the President of Colombia to the port is part of a 3-day working visit to the Netherlands, during which he will visit the Municipality of Rotterdam, among other things.
