Pure Hydrogen powers up with first fuel cell generator sale.

Pure Hydrogen has hit a major milestone with the sale of a 5 kilowatt fuel cell generator – one of the first of its kind in Australia – to The Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre.

The fuel cell generator, which uses hydrogen to generate electricity with zero emissions, will be used by PICAC at its Hydrogen Centre of Excellent in Queensland, Australia’s first dedicated training facility for training jobs of the future in hydrogen.

This was provided under an agreement that outlines purchase arrangement for the supply of the hydrogen fuelled generator and hydrogen fuel, with installation and delivery expected this month.

Pure Hydrogen (ASX:PH2) expects to receive about $55,000 from the sale of the generator and supply of hydrogen in the first year.

The 5kW hydrogen fuel cell gensets can be used in a broad range of applications including providing backup power and/or supply to power mobile communication towers, farms, businesses, hospitals, households and mine sites.

Scott Brown, managing director said:

This power generation unit has at its heart, a hydrogen fuel cell and a powertrain that have been developed over several years.

“This Power H2 unit, developed by H2X in which PH2 has a 23% stake, demonstrates our ability to bring hydrogen-powered products to market successfully given H2X’s strong technological skills and established manufacturing and logistics supply chain.”

Hydrogen strategy

Pure Hydrogen’s supply of the genset and hydrogen fuel is all part of its strategy to become a first mover in Australia’s ongoing clean energy transition.

That the genset was developed by H2X reflects the value of its investments in other companies – particularly those focused on developing solutions for the hydrogen industry.

Meanwhile, the hydrogen supply component feeds neatly into its goal of producing green, turquoise and emerald hydrogen.

Its first hydrogen production facility — located in Caboolture, Queensland — is expected to start producing 2.5 tonnes of hydrogen per day from the September quarter of 2023.
