Pure Hydrogen plans a ‘turquoise’ hydrogen pilot plant. }
Pure Hydrogen plans to produce ‘turquoise’ hydrogen from methane feedstock in a Brisbane pilot plant utilising technology from French company Plenesys.
Pure Hydrogen has built up ‘considerable’ expertise in methane pyrolysis hydrogen production and will combine it with Plenesys’s A/C Plasma Torch to convert methane into hydrogen and solid carbon products including graphene.
The two companies have signed a term sheet to collaborate on construction a Brisbane pilot plant within the next 12 months.

Commercial scale operation is planned with capacities of up to 5,000kg per day of hydrogen and up to 15,000kg per day of carbon products.
Scott Brown, Pure Hydrogen CEO said:
Our initial programme is focussed on demonstrating and refining the process, before commencing commercial scale production.

Pure plans to market the ‘turquoise’ hydrogen in Australia, South East Asia and southern Africa.

Pure also has a joint Venture with Liberty Hydrogen to develop four large scale hydrogen hubs on Australia’s East Coat – Project Jupiter (Gladstone, QLD), Project Mars (Mackay, QLD), Liberty North (Newcastle, NSW) and Liberty South (Port Anthony, VIC).
