RVK Cologne tests hydrogen bus from Caetano.
The “Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK)”, currently the bus company in Germany with the most hydrogen buses, is currently testing a three-door fuel cell bus of the Portuguese manufacturer Caetano of the type “H 2 City Gold”. RVK currently has 35 Van Hool “A 330-CNG” hydrogen buses in operation, plus 15 “Solaris Urbino 12 hydrogen” – no one in Europe currently operates more fuel cell buses.
So now they are testing the “H 2 City Gold” the car of another manufacturer, namely a Portuguese Caetano. Its fuel cell comes from Japan, namely from Toyota.
The car with the registration number “K-UO 85” (registered on Toyota Germany in Cologne) is loaned to the RVK for a longer period of time to enable extensive tests. Since 10 January, RVK has been using it on behalf of The Bonn SWB on its express bus line “SB 60” (Main Station – Cologne/Bonn Airport) via the A 59 motorway.
The route measures just over 20 kilometers (there and back more than 40 kilometers): the daily mileage of a car on this line reaches more than 600 kilometers. If you no longer want to drive with diesel here, all that remains is the hydrogen bus: battery buses are not yet so far along that they would cover more than 600 kilometers. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.
And should the range become scarce: there is a hydrogen filling station at Cologne/Bonn Airport,
The RVK demonstration car is now being used from the Meckenheim depot. It is to run for three weeks on the Meckenheim lines – including the airport line operated on behalf of the Bonn SWB. After that, he is to change the depot by moving to Wermelskirchen (Bergisch Gladbach district).
