For the second consecutive year, a Chilean delegation will participate in the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in the Netherlands.

For the second consecutive year, ProChile will lead Chile’s participation in the World Hydrogen 2023 Summit & Exhibition, which will bring together the main leaders of the global hydrogen industry, from 9 to 11 May in Rotterdam (Netherlands).

Chile will be present at this event with a pavilion that will inform visitors about all the energy potential offered by the country and provide the Chilean delegation -of 55 companies- with a meeting point to interact with their international counterparts.

The conference will be attended by around 100 executives from major Chilean companies, government institutions (Ministry of Energy and InvestChile) and local governments – such as the mayor of the municipality of Mejillones, Marcelino Carvajal – to connect with key industry players.

Diego Pardow, Minister of Energy, said:

As the Ministry of Energy we value this type of public-private meeting. Green hydrogen has a fundamental role in Chile’s path towards our goal of carbon neutrality by 2050.

“Our commitment as a government is to take advantage of the potential offered by our country and implement public policies that allow us to become world leaders in the production of this clean fuel and its derivatives.”

ProChile’s support
The participation of ProChile takes place in the framework of the strategy of dissemination of the opportunities that the development of the H2V industry represents for Chile and the permanent articulating work that the institution carries out, through its network of regional and commercial offices, to connect the parts of the global green hydrogen chain.

The country is working together with the main ports to create green corridors to export the hydrogen produced in a renewable way and distribute it efficiently in the different markets.

Ignacio Fernandez, Director General of ProChile, said:

The collaboration with various countries and ports is key to position Chile at the international level and we must continue to work with great conviction to invite the world to move forward together in this energy transition in which we want to contribute for the benefit of the entire planet.

“Participating in this important World Hydrogen Summit is part of this collaborative strategy of several state institutions together with the private sector, which will allow a hundred representatives of our ecosystem to present to the world the great potential that our country offers.”

Among the Chilean delegation, this year the National Petroleum Company (ENAP) and the Chilean Hydrogen Association (H2 Chile) will participate.

Gloria Maldonado, Chairwoman of ENAP’s board of directors, said that the company is:

Committed to the energy transition, has unique capabilities and strategic assets in the main areas with potential for the development of H2V and derivatives in Chile.

“For the Magallanes region, ENAP has designed an Integrating Plan, which will facilitate the development of the H2V industry in Chile, consolidating needs and reconfiguring existing infrastructure, with the aim of minimising environmental and community impacts, in accordance with the region’s Energy Regulatory Plan. Therefore, it is relevant to be able to disseminate this Plan in global instances such as the World Hydrogen Summit, in order to drive greater logistical and investment capacity to Chile”.

Marcos Kulka, Executive Director of H2 Chile, comments that:

The World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam is a showcase, as well as a strategic entry point to Europe, which will allow us to show this potential to industry leaders internationally and continue to position Chile as a strategic partner.

“We can and must move towards carbon neutrality, considering Chile’s capacity to contribute with green copper, green lithium, green energy and green fuels to displace polluting fossil fuels”.

Global green hydrogen platform

The World Hydrogen 2023 Summit & Exhibition is the world’s leading platform dedicated exclusively to advancing the hydrogen industry organised by the Sustainable Energy Council (SEC) in partnership with the City of Rotterdam, the Province of South Holland and the Port of Rotterdam.

This year, over 8,000 participants from more than 100 countries are expected at a gathering of key decision-makers from around the world, where priorities will be set, new announcements made and new partnerships forged, essential for the development of the entire hydrogen value chain.

With a world-class exhibition, technical seminars and the Hydrogen Awards Ceremony, this Summit will bring together leading companies from across the hydrogen ecosystem showcasing their projects, innovative technologies, new products and key services for all aspects of this growing industry, which will be key to decarbonising the planet.

Highlights:

  • ProChile will have a pavilion and will support a delegation of more than 55 companies in this important event that will bring together the main global leaders of the green hydrogen industry. The country will thus continue its strategy of supporting Chile’s internationalisation to position itself as the world’s most competitive future exporter of renewable energies.
