Sinopec establishes China’s first cross-regional hydrogen truck route
Sinopec Group, China’s largest oil refiner, has officially launched the country’s first cross-regional hydrogen-powered heavy-duty truck route.
Spanning 1,150 kilometers, the newly established corridor stretches from Chongqing in southwest China to Qinzhou Port in the southern province of Guangxi, according to China Focus. The road traverses the mountainous terrain of Guizhou Province along the way and includes four hydrogen refueling stations.
This initiative taps into the region’s substantial hydrogen resources, with an annual industrial by-product hydrogen output exceeding 400,000 tonnes.
The corridor has the capacity to fuel up to 360,000 hydrogen-powered logistics vehicles, marking a significant step toward cleaner and more sustainable freight transport in China.
In addition, Sinopec’s new corridor will also serve as an industrial hub, which is set to manage 220,000 units of cargo annually in two-way traffic.
