Stellantis and Hype deploy a first fleet of 50 Parisian hydrogen taxis (Crit’Air 0) for people with reduced mobility.
Stellantis, the first manufacturer in the world to mass-market utility vehicles and hydrogen passenger transport derivatives, and Hype , an independent pure-player in hydrogen mobility, are formalizing a partnership around the supply and operation of hydrogen vehicles, the first of which stage consists of delivering a first fleet of 50 zero-emission PMR Parisian taxis (Crit’Air 0) from 2023.
These vehicles, which can accommodate 5 passengers including one in a wheelchair, or 6 passengers without a wheelchair, have been specially adapted from the passenger transport versions of the Peugeot e-Expert and Citroën ë-Jumpy produced at the Stellantis site in Hordain in Hauts-de-France.
The Stellantis Hydrogen offer is perfectly suited to “intensive user” professionals thanks to a 400 km range, a recharge carried out in 3 minutes, zero emissions and no compromise on the useful capacities of the vehicle. This zero-emission technology thus allows maximum availability of the fleet. These vehicles also have the particularity of being 100% electric “hybrid”, comprising a rechargeable battery of reasonable size and a hydrogen fuel cell device, making it possible to offer an optimal solution for scaling up.
By relying on its specific organization, unrivaled on the market, and in particular on its hundreds of trained salaried drivers and its very high visibility, Hype is setting up an organization dedicated to the service of People with Reduced Mobility to guarantee availability in quality of service and a tailor-made service, also with a reservation application to benefit from priority access and provide complete and detailed reports on the use of vehicles in real time.
As part of their partnership, Stellantis and Hype specify that they are also able to deploy, by the end of 2024, up to 1,000 PMR Crit’Air 0 taxis. These potential additional volumes are linked to obtaining the license for “Parisian PMR taxi” operation, currently being set up by the French public authorities.
Such an offer would make it possible to meet several of the strategic priorities set by the French government: rapidly improving, in volume and quality, the supply of transport services for people with reduced mobility, accelerating the energy transition with a zero means of transport emission (Crit’Air 0) and strengthen industrial activities at the Stellantis site in Hordain, located in the Hauts-de-France region.
Xavier Peugeot, Director of the LCV BU at Stellantis, said:
We are pleased, with these Peugeot e-Expert Hydrogen and Citroën ë-Jumpy Hydrogen, to further strengthen our leadership in zero-emission Vans, through a partnership with Hype focused on people with reduced mobility.
Mathieu Gardies, founder and CEO of Hype, said:
I am very happy with this first delivery of 50 Peugeot and Citroën PMR Crit’Air 0 hydrogen taxis as part of our partnership with Stellantis, which represents a new major step in the development of Hype and the structuring of the hydrogen industrial sector.
“French. This fleet of vehicles, unparalleled on the market, allows us to launch the deployment on the right scale of our zero-emission service offer for people with reduced mobility, in Ile-de-France and then in other regions, while meeting ecological imperatives. and public health and industrialization objectives on French territory. Hype will also organize access to this zero-emission device for other interested taxi players, and in particular independent drivers and rental companies.
