Two R&D projects with HydrogenPro Denmark granted 15,3 MNOK.
HydrogenPro Denmark has been granted 2 new R&D projects in June, with a total value of NOK 15,3 million. The two projects are funded from Innovation Fund Denmark and MissionGreenFuels (14.320.000 NOK) and Gassnova, Norway (984.000 NOK).
– This is very good news. We are extremely proud and honoured to be part of these two solid R&D projects, says Lars Pleth Nielsen, CEO of HydrogenPro Denmark.
The Danish project “H2-SAF” aim to reduce the cost structure of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) with at least 3-4% (compared to e-kerosene). This will be done by cost reduction of green H2 by 15-20%, obtained by innovative electrode/membrane developments and material degradation analysis. In Europe, 63% of the jet-fuel must be SAF in 2050 [EASA Report 2022].
The project will work on pulsplating, membrane characterization, electrode performance characterization, corrosion under industrial conditions and cost benefit analysis of SAF production.
In this project HydrogenPro Denmark partners with Technical University of Denmark and Aarhus University.
The Norwegian project is based on the idea of using HydrogenPro’s electrodes to change pH and adsorb CO2 in water and subsequently desorb CO2 by reversing the pH again. By increasing the acidity of the water, carbonates will be converted into CO2. When the concentration of dissolved CO2 becomes higher than the maximum solubility, CO2 can be captured as a gas.
Partners in this project are Sintef, Equinor Energy, EcoFishCircle and TotalEnergies. The title is “pH swing to desorb CO2 from aqueous solutions”. The funding is up to 984.000 NOK.
