UK – Arriva’s plans to enable hydrogen buses refuelling at depot granted
PLANS to install compound fencing to accommodate a mobile hydrogen trailer to refuel hydrogen buses at a depot have been given the green light.
Bus company Arriva sent in the proposals for the depot on Jackson Street.
In a cover letter drawn up by Paul Butler Associates on behalf of Arriva, it was said the plans are for “a proposed new fenced compound to accommodate a mobile hydrogen trailer comprising of self-contained hydrogen storage cells for the purpose of refuelling hydrogen powered buses”.
This concluded:
Having taken all material considerations into account, it is considered that the proposed facility would comply with the council’s policies and guidelines.
“It is also considered that the proposal would not cause unacceptable harm to the character and appearance of the surrounding area or the amenities of neighbouring occupiers and would not prejudice highway safety or the environment.”
Planning officer Louis Hatchett said in a report:
The fence and proposed hydrogen trailer would be screened from any residential properties by existing built form and vegetation.
“Land to the south of the site forms part of the designated Greenway network however it is unlikely that the proposal would be visible from the Greenway due to the topography of the area.”
Permission was granted.
