The hydrogen investor roadmap showcases the UK’s hydrogen offer and the scale of our ambition for the role of the hydrogen economy in meeting net zero.

It includes details of key elements of the UK policy framework which together represent the next substantial step forward in developing a thriving UK hydrogen economy:
- a Net Zero Hydrogen Fund to support deployment
- a Production Business Model to ensure long-term revenue support
- a Low Carbon Hydrogen Standard to enable market access and certainty for end use
The roadmap also reflects the significant increase in the UK’s hydrogen ambition. We have doubled our ambition to up to 10GW of low carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2030, with the intention that at least half of this will be from electrolytic hydrogen.
Increasing our production ambition could mobilise over £11 billion of private investment and support over 12,000 jobs by 2030, ensuring that we have reliable, secure energy while maintaining progress towards our legally binding targets under the Climate Change Act.
The update to the UK’s Green Finance Strategy sets out how government will align our world-leading financial centre to a net zero, nature positive and climate resilient world, and how government will mobilise public and private financial flows to meet our climate and environmental targets.
