Uniper – Humber H2ub® (Green) project shortlisted for Hydrogen Allocation Round 2

We are pleased to share that ourHumber H2ub® (Green) projecthas been shortlisted in the UK Government’s Hydrogen Allocation Round 2 (HAR2) programme.

The results, which were announced on 7 April, revealed Humber H2ub® (Green) is one of just 27 projects shortlisted for the next phase of the HAR2 process.  The Hydrogen Allocation Round programme is a UK Government scheme with the aim of supporting the development of low carbon hydrogen production capacity in the UK.

The next stage will be a due diligence phase, for which we now have to submit a comprehensive RFI by 16 May. Following the conclusion of DESNZ’s due diligence and negotiation process, projects to be awarded contracts with the Government will be announced in 2026. Successful HAR2 projects will require a target commissioning date by the end of 2029.

We are thrilled that ourHumber H2ub® (Green) project is on the shortlist. Our team continues to put a huge amount of effort and enthusiasm into this important decarbonisation project and we would like to thank everyone involved for their hard work. We now have the opportunity to take this project further towards final HAR2 selection and look forward to working with the team on the next stages of the process.

Colin Wilkie, Project Manager, Humber H2ub® (Green) project

As part of the announcement DESNZ also reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to hydrogen, stating that low carbon hydrogen is essential to achieving the Government’s Clean Energy Superpower and Growth Missions and that it will be a crucial enabler of a low carbon and renewables-based energy system.
