Voss Fluid has acquired a majority stake in Hyptec, expanding portfolio to efficient high-pressure valve components for hydrogen applications.

For the latest generation of hydrogen applications: Voss Fluid has acquired a majority stake in the Austrian company Hyptec GmbH.

Through the merger, the manufacturer of modern pipe connection systems is expanding its portfolio to include efficient high-pressure valve components for hydrogen applications and fluid gas transport.

In combination with the proven Voss-Lok-40 tube forming system, both partners bundle synergies to create leak-proof connections for corresponding drive systems. The activities in this area are strategically combined in the “Fluid Transport & Storage” business segment.

Innovation partner and valve technology for a green future: This is the motto under which Hyptec GmbH, founded in 2010, develops and sells hydrogen and natural gas technology. The portfolio of the Austrian company includes tank valves, pressure control units, check valves and end plug units (EPU).

A USP: The valves are used in the high-pressure range, but are up to four times smaller and six times lighter than comparable models. This results in almost silent operation with lower energy consumption.

High-density connection in hydrogen-based drive systems

The advanced container valve unfolds its full potential in combination with the Voss-Lok-40 tube forming system, which shows its strengths above all in the areas of tightness, ease of installation and high economy.

The modern valves fit perfectly on the Voss-Lok-40 contour and thus create a high-density connection in hydrogen- and gas-based drive systems – especially for the high-pressure range of up to 700 bar. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

Expertise grows together

Hyptec has made a name for itself as a leading market competitor above all with its state-of-the-art test center for hydraulic and pneumatic tests. Among other things, hydrogen tanks for well-known companies from all over Europe are tested there. For a long time, this center was the mainstay of Hyptec GmbH.

Thanks to the new partnership with Voss Fluid, the valves are now moving more to the fore. These valves score primarily with their compact design based on high engineering skills. Meanwhile, the portfolio extends over all valves from the tank to the fuel cell.

The merger of Voss Fluid and Hyptec results in systems for hydrogen applications and for fluid gas transport through the very well complementary product solutions.

Bundling strengths with a focus on hydrogen and beyond

Voss Fluid and Hyptec are an ideal match in their efforts to advance hydrogen technology. These competencies will be combined in the new “Fluid Transport & Storage” business unit.

Christian Mertens, Managing Director of Voss Fluid, however, the interpersonal factor was also decisive for the cooperation:

With Hyptec, we have gained a technically leading, highly innovative supplier of hydrogen high-pressure valve components and tests as a partner at eye level.”

“This relationship is important to us, because with the merger, the competencies of both sides grow together and complement each other perfectly. This expands our product portfolio and significantly improves our opportunities in this dynamically developing market. And last but not least, the chemistry is just right – also because it fits together perfectly on a human level,” Mertens continues.

The innovative strength that has risen sharply as a result of the cooperation is intended to establish the two companies as bench-mark partners in a business area that will grow enormously in the future.

Thomas Höller, Managing Director of Hyptec GmbH, sums up:

This merger creates an innovative, globally active company that places hydrogen technology as the basis for future mobility and energy supply to achieve our climate goals as one of its strategic goals at the center of its efforts.

“We combine strengths such as innovation, flexibility, reliability and global market support to further ensure the success of our customers.” (bec)
