Snam4Mobility and OrangeGas to cooperate on Bio-CNG, Bio-LNG and potentially hydrogen infrastructure for sustainable transportation in Germany.

Snam4Mobility, a subsidiary of Italy’s energy infrastructure group Snam, and OG, a Dutch company owning and operating sustainable fuels service stations in the Netherlands, Germany, and Sweden, have signed an agreement for the development of a new Bio-LCNG refueling station in Paderborn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

This agreement is part of a larger cooperation project between the two companies in the sustainable mobility field.

The station, which will be built by Snam4Mobility by year-end and will be operated by OG within its network of service stations, will provide both liquefied and compressed biomethane to power sustainable mobility of both light- and heavy-duty transports in Germany.

This agreement marks the first step outside of Italy for Snam4Mobility, which has an established expertise in managing permission, building, service, and maintenance of sustainable fuels (Bio-CNG, Bio-LNG) distribution infrastructure.

Wijtze Bakker, Head Network Development Europe at OG.

The cooperation with Snam4Mobility is a great step forward to further expand our Bio-LNG and Bio-CNG network in Germany.

“The experience that Snam4Mobility has in Italy makes them the ideal partner to further expand our international clean refuelling network and fits perfectly with our ambition to be the largest independent clean fuel retailer in Europe.”

“Four new Bio-LCNG stations will be opened in Germany this year, with the aim of opening a total of twenty stations in the next three years.”

The construction of the new German Bio-LCNG stations will help to create an OG network of Clean Fuel Stations in Germany, Sweden and the Netherlands and enable international transport to become even greener. Thanks for staying up to date with Hydrogen Central.

OG offers 100% Bio-CNG at all its CNG stations. From the beginning of 2023, OG will only offer 100% Bio-LNG at its LNG stations as well.

Alessio Torelli, Chief Executive Officer of Snam4Mobility.

With this agreement, we are launching an important partnership to help decarbonise light and heavy transports in Germany, by leveraging our expertise in building and managing refueling stations and combining our strengths with those of OG along the biomethane value chain.

The cooperation between the parties may lead to future projects aimed at further expanding Bio-CNG and Bio-LNG supply infrastructure in Germany, as well as potential initiatives on hydrogen, thus contributing to the decarbonisation of transports and to reducing polluting emissions.

About Snam4Mobility

Snam4Mobility, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Snam, provides integrated services for sustainable mobility through biomethane, natural gas and hydrogen. As part of its strategic plan to 2025, Snam aims at developing new LCNG and Bio-LCNG refueling stations throughout Italy, as well as infrastructure projects to supply LNG to the fuel distribution network.

In biomethane, Snam will invest 850 million euros (net of 100 million euros for possible grants) by 2025, 100 million euros of which for sustainable mobility infrastructure.
