STU in Bratislava presents hydrogen midibus.
The first hydrogen-powered midibus of its kind in Europe was presented at the Mechanical Engineering Faculty of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
The maximum weight of hydrogen that can fit in the tanks is 10.5 kilograms at a pressure of 350 bars, which is sufficient for a minimum range of 350 kilometres on hydrogen. The range can be increased by another 100 kilometres thanks to battery systems. The bus is currently being put into trial operation.
Lubomir Soos, the Dean of the STU Mechanical Engineering Faculty said:
Hybrid drive and modular body, these are the two basic attributes of the first homologated midibus, which put it in the exceptional category.
“The midibus can either use the electricity stored in the accumulator for its movement, or it can generate it during operation.”
Said the Dean of the STU Mechanical Engineering Faculty in Bratislava Lubomir Soos, adding that the faculty had a hand in the development of the self-supporting composite body.
